In January of 1919, 26-year-old Wanda Skrzypzak died at Chicago's St. Elizabeth's Hospital from an abortion perpetrated by Dr. Michael Rozumski and Dr. John P. Wojtaleiwicz They were held by the Coroner for intentional manslaughter by abortion, and were indicted in February, but the case never went to trial, and Rozumski remained free to practice medicine. There were allegations of police corruption associated with the case.

Rozumski was born Sept. 29, 1884 in Poland, son of Pawel "Frank" Rozumski.He died Dec. 5, 1939, in Chicago.
