Abortionist Guy Brewer

On June 7, 1935, Dr. Guy E. Brewer, a 53-year-old bachelor, pleaded guilty to six counts of manslaughter for the deaths of six women who died from complications of abortions he had perpetrated. He was sentenced to serve six consecutive four-year terms. He spent his incarceration working in the prison hospital.

One of those young women was Elizabeth Shaw, age 24, of Roxanna, Oklahoma. My best estimate is that she died in the first week of June, 1935.

The other women include Hermoine Fowler, Ruby Ford, Doris Jones, Myrtle Rose, and Wanda Lee Gray.

Brewer was sentenced to six four-year sentences, to run concurrently, for six abortion deaths. The most likely reason for his extremely short sentence was his overwhelming popularity for his benevolence in putting local young men through college. So beloved was Brewer that one victim's husband was fired from his job in retaliation for reporting his wife's death to the police.
